Dorm style housing, which he discusses near the end, sounds like a great solution for affordability in expensive areas. A big shared space with 4-6(8?) private rooms sounds great for people in their 20s.
Yeah they're called SROs (Single Room Occupancy) and they were super common 100 years ago. Some of the original stock still exists in some cities and elsewhere it's getting reintroduced. It's another example of a type of housing that used to be allowed but zoning and building codes gradually made illegal.
