Retail and complacency is shit, i was a fast food worker when I was younger and have to say working under a shitty manager made it so much worse, I lived in bigger cities so were never a lack of jobs there so had the privledge of bouncing between them

It's been a long time so I don't know how the corporate culture is these days, but a friend of mine worked at Home Depot for years and had a relatively good experience. There's also Aldi of course, they're supposed to be WAY better than most retail.

Hm, crap, that does seem like a lot. I've heard good things about working there, but I don't personally know anyone who does, so your friend probably has a more accurate view of how things really are. Maybe have a conversation with them on the pros and cons? I worked at Kohl's too, so you have all my sympathy. At least at Aldi, when you're stocking shelves you just put the box out without having to unload and arrange everything. A friend worked at Starbucks a few years ago and liked it OK (and from what I've heard, they have good benefits), so you might want to look into that. I think she sometimes had trouble getting hours though--this may have more to do with the location though, it's not a busy shop.
