Shit I'm just hoping by 2040 Touhou at least has more male characters that actually have a role in the world(given ZUN's seeming preferred artstyle, and his chatter about what the end boss of 12 was supposed to be, though, I'm not holding my breath). Barring that, a twink-based supernatural bullet hell coming into existence is also acceptable-- probably the option I'm going to have to more wait on.
i recall there was a comic about how when ZUN's child plays their father's games, the child complains about how there's no guys in it, and what do you know, ZUN features a guy (as a playable character no less!) in Touhou 20 after Touhou 1 was the last Touhou game featuring a male opponent
but yeah, it'd be interesting to see a shmup series featuring mostly guys like how touhou features mostly women and len'en features genderless people/enbies
Last I actively paid attention to the fandom (it was something I got jumped into by the anime heads at my school as a teen, and then I fell out save occasional pokes back in where someone made a BALLER 3d animation of a fight I actually remember playing or IOSYS remixes) y'all were still on like-- 16 or 17; shows you how frequently I update on 'whats the most current'. I'd never heard of len'en though; I'm going to have to poke my head in and see what that's all about.
lucky. i found out about touhou through online exposure. my peers irl don't know about it, despite being into anime themselves lmao. i do wonder what was this 3D animation you're talking about.
also tbf i pretty much only cared about it up until 16. while i did take a peek onto what 17 and 18 was about, can't say i really care what happens past them, although 19 just released.
as for checking out len'en - you definitely should! len'en deserves some love too, especially as how its creator also remade the pc98 games for pc in his own artstyle; also len'en being enby representation thanks to the characters not having a canon gender. it's wayyy harder than touhou, but the recent len'en game (Len'en 0: Book of the Cafe) isn't a shmup but a barista game
i mostly pay attention to what the fandom is building, i really liked oil fire from the most recent game, but i'm still making my way through the games. i've been stuck on 10 for about a year, but i'll get there one of these days
she's trans? wasn't her story like she was a --- who went to sleep and thousands of years later woke up as a girl and went "huh, neat"? idk when she voiced displeasure of being a ---.
she used magic to become a woman and i believe is stated to be happier that way, that makes her trans in my book. zun should include more explicitly trans characters but i think miko counts

no i want only girls to continue. it's refreshing to have a series with no men, given how everything else in the world is
i do wish dark-skinned girls and even trans girls would make their appearance in gensokyo though, would really make things interesting imo
yeah for sure. i mean, there's miko, but there could always be more, and more that explicitly acknowledge it would be really nice

when did this happen
unless she did that magic before going to sleep
that's how i remembered it but that might have been a doujin. may not be canon, idk if we know the exact mechanics and it could have been made up
