Sorry if wrong comm, but I always get contradictory info about this and I am trying to use as many FOSS alternatives. Can someone ELI5 what jaikbreaking or rooting a phone does and if it is more advantageous than changing your phone's OS (or is it ROM for phones I am not sure). I was looking at GrapheneOS but I don't have the right phone for that, so should I get LineageOS instead?
