Many Western Europeans do not see eastern Europeans as European or white. Race sometimes has little to do with skin colour. This is an example of it.

Now the US and it's satellites have lost interest in Ukraine again, we're about to see a return to the pre-2022 notions of Europe and whiteness. Ukraine isn't in it.

Neither is half of the EU. The peripheries were only invited to make the four freedoms really pop: to move the cheapest labour across borders, launder money wherever taxes are lowest, and export capital towards the cheaper labour if all the above doesn't lower wages in the core countries fast enough—or if the workers in the core get uppity and start going on strike.

Europe is an idea more than a continent. A white supremacist one at that. There won't be a big announcement. It'll be lots of kind of micro aggressions like in the OP, where Ukraine just doesn't figure in the narrative of what's happening in 'Europe'. Plus a roll back of all the special help for Ukrainian refugees. Some countries didn't even make a pretence of giving special treatment beyond catch phrases. Even that will turn sour.

Unless some Ukrainians retaliate for the US/Western Europe's behaviour. Then we'll see how the label 'terrorist' functions to accelerate the process of changing categories of race.

You're absolutely right and the idiot who said that wouldn't have been compelled to apologise had he said that a year before. Westerners went full "honourary aryan" on ukrainians and it was obvious to anyone in the periphery.

Also he said it in the context of the places the US invaded, Iraq, Syria etc. He literally meant the ukrainians were half asiatic which was better than full ay-rab or whatever slur crackers have for the vietnamese.
