Hey, y'all!

I'm volunteering on a campaign to get a socialist a city council position in NC. When we talked about social media, he brought up the idea of an OnlyFans. Imagine: someone spitting propaganda and then cut scene to nudes or sex.

I mentioned it might appeal to millenial/Gen Z humour/energy/slow mental health decline even more if he (~45, lil chub, blue collar comrade) had the sexy pictures/vids of himself.

Our campaign is composed largely of older hetero white men, while I'm...not (24/F/pan)...which is important because they definitely give my opinion the weight of novelty/minority. I know I could convince them of it.

My point is, I don't want to argue for this if people think it's an awful idea, but if it's something that could get us all the more quickly towards reform or revolution...leeeeet's goooooo.

Tho(ugh)ts?

Seems myriad ways this could go extremely badly, with optics and press acting apoplectic. If he is blue-collar, longer youtube videos of his work with some explanations might go much better, no?

Thanks for the comment! I could also see how that would go well. He ran previously and isn't about to get shining press reviews as a Socialist anyway, so it might be a 'no press is bad press' kind of thing. Also, he lives in a huge college town, so doing something absurd to get younger people involved might go a long way. Another thought is that it shows he genuinely believes in his ideologies: sex work is work.

Hmm, maybe ask around young people what they are concerned locally about? it could be weirdest shit like more bike parking space or something equally strange. Or shit all over the opponent with same issues they are concerned about: is he/she landlord, weird connections to police, stuff like that. Most people are completely plugged out of local corruption. (Not definitive advice, just thinking)

This is a good idea, with the problem being getting mass attention in the first place. Due to the age of everyone, I'm not incredibly confident in the social media management, so I thought bolder might be better, but it seems like that might be a miss.

Honestly, it sounds like a bad idea. I was thinking maybe a Ryan Creamer style satire might be funny, but even then, your efforts are probably better spent elsewhere.

Ever seen this? It's a really great case study on local organizing for a city council race. If you haven't read it already, you should definitely check it out.

I love this idea. The limited social media he does have tries its darndest to meme and I think this would be an excellent addition. Thanks! One of my own personal issues was that it would just be so much time on his part having to take new pics and videos that it would distract from other platforms...this definitely works that kink out too.
