  • Oh yeah, I remember. I even remember thinking how you could further split the middle class into upper-middle, middle-middle and lower-middle and they'd all be managing.

The article says by all traditional measures the economy is strong and it feels like that just show how BS economics is. People play with numbers and statistics, creating their own definitions and say things are great while ignoring reality. What even is middle class anymore?

  • Took me a second.

But man, I don't write academic papers anymore, but I have to write a lot of reports and such for my work and I've tried to use different LLM's to help and almost always the biggest help is just in making me go "Man, this sucks, it should be more like this." and then I proceed to just write the whole thing with the slight advantage of knowing what a badly written version looks like.

  • Yeah, I imagine a lot of people alive during the world wars thought things were going to collapse any second as well. But I just feel the added background anxiety of the status quo causing the Earth to heat up catastrophically but slow enough to be ignored adds a novel layer of messed up to everything.

  • Was just having a conversation recently on whether things have always been this close to a complete existential crisis for humans or is the current global situation unique. Most people felt like things have always been bad but I still feel like, with everything going on in terms of global conflicts and climate change, things are uniquely, complexly and extremely bad on a global scale compared to the past.
