  • The fact that 40 of these missiles have been deployed is very concerning and could indicate Israeli intentions to carry out a wider scale Suppression/Destruction of Enemy Air Defences (SEAD/DEAD) operation. This is a capability that Israel has already demonstrated against Iran, that Iran failed to stop last time round.

Appreciate the lengthy write up. I do wonder what the solution to massed SEAD would look like for Iran. Do they just turn their radar off and try and time it so the SEAD missile looses its lock? I really have no idea what other countermeasures there would be.

Reminds me of how apparently Flavor Flav sponsored the US Women's Water Polo team because he heard they we had minimal funding and were working multiple jobs plus trying to keep up with their training or something like that.

Its kinda sad to think about, but also I guess very American. Hoping some benevolent rich person blesses you and your sport with money so you can hopefully keep doing that sport to win a medal.

Edit: Yeah it was the water polo team, also realized I'm being serious on a meme post... ABC News Link

  • The announcers washed his balls the entire match, aside from a little mention of the dude getting suspended for ghosting three consecutive drug tests.

Yeah that's not fishy at all.

Edit: if you want huck your phone through a windows, Google "team usa Olympians failed drug test" Results are about Chinese swimmers

Why I'm glad I'm not watching the Olympics with my family past couple days. They won't shut up about how clearly the only reason China is good at any sport has to be doping.

Meanwhile my dad thinks the worst any US athlete can be on is weed so we're very clearly not doping.

  • Was going to say I remembered Paraguay being better semi recently but honestly haven't been tracking the different South American national teams very closely.

They might make it to the 2026 World Cup just because the CONMEBOL qualifiers now allow for like 7 teams to qualify, out of 10. But with teams like Ecuador and Venezuela on the rise, they have fewer chances.

Venezuela's rise has been interesting to me, I know quite a few of their players have come through or still are in MLS. I'm guessing the sport has grown in popularity in Venezuela enough and the domestic league quality must be decent enough to give their players a shot in foreign leagues.
