  • The declaration:

The New York Declaration on Animal Consciousness

Which animals have the capacity for conscious experience? While much uncertainty remains, some points of wide agreement have emerged.

First, there is strong scientific support for attributions of conscious experience to other mammals and to birds.

Second, the empirical evidence indicates at least a realistic possibility of conscious experience in all vertebrates (including reptiles, amphibians, and fishes) and many invertebrates (including, at minimum, cephalopod mollusks, decapod crustaceans, and insects).

Third, when there is a realistic possibility of conscious experience in an animal, it is irresponsible to ignore that possibility in decisions affecting that animal. We should consider welfare risks and use the evidence to inform our responses to these risks.

Only the it's not companies but entities which include China, the former soviet union and the Russian federation. This is such a fucking missleading title the guardian ran here.

  • The Netherlands will very likely have a right wing government and will be heading down the same path. Same with Italy, Sweden, Denmark.

With the next European election this year the right wing parties in the European Parliament will gain a lot of traction.

We could be heading down the American path and lose a lot or the progress we made over the last 2 decades.

I will be a father in a couple or hours. Between the right taking to power and accelerating climate change i am just so fucking worried in what kind of world my kids will grow up.

  • This result suggests that stabilization at today’s greenhouse gas levels may already commit Earth to an eventual total warming of 5 degrees Celsius (range 3 to 7 degrees Celsius, 95 per cent credible interval) over the next few millennia as ice sheets, vegetation and atmospheric dust continue to respond to global warming.

You forgot the "over the next few millennia" part.

  • How so? I just asked you back up a claim. And it took us about 15 comments before I just looked it up myself.

Anyhow, today I learned something new, which is that Germany is still using Russian LNG. Follow up question would be how much and why Belgium, France and the Netherlands are still importing, thus financially supporting the Russian war. I not asking you this, mind you. As we have learned it's more efficient if I just look it up myself 😉

  • The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has published its gas supply preliminary figures for 2023, which show that Germany's gas imports fell by nearly 33% decrease compared to 2022. The largest quantities came from Norway (43%), the Netherlands (26%) and Belgium (22%).

Since you are claiming that Germany is using Russian gas you should be able to show me that Norway, the Netherlands and Belgium are importing Russian Gas into Germany. If you can do the you final managed to back up your claim.

    Can you?

  • So far, Germany is happily receiving LNG from EU that's largely purchased from Russia.

Which you have repeatedly failed to show a single source for. I am not even contesting this, I just ask you to back it up. Which you haven't, albeit trying several times.

If you want to believe this I am fine with it. But untill you back it up by any source other than links that don't contain the information you are pretending they are, it remains a nice story you tell yourself to back up your world view. Which is fine, we all do. Just don't pretend you are doing anything else.
