I remember a John Oliver bit years ago about a congressional distric map that looked similar to this and had good reason; the two "sides" of the district were two smaller predominantly Latino communities, and the section in the middle was a larger African American community.
While this may not be the case for this district (I'm not American, am not familiar with this district, and have not looked into its demographics or electoral history), it's important to remember that shape alone does not make a district gerrymandered.
I only noticed with my partner after they already told me they were a lefty, and we were working together one day and kept bumping each other.
