  • Yeah honestly it's a very socially-dependent thing. I like alcohol, if I lived with or near people who wanted to drink with me on the regular I would drink a lot more, but as it sits now I drink like a few times a week, usually only 1 or 2 beers (which I'm unlikely to even feel). Weed I ironically smoked the most when I lived alone, even though all but 1 of my roommates before and after that were big stoners, but I blame covid for that I guess. It was a nice excuse to get outside and relax during lockdown

  • not all that into it honestly. I think if I had a bit more disposable income and less mental health issues when I was younger I would've gotten into more shit, but I really only have done psychedelics and smoked weed. I like drinking but I sorta missed that part of my life where I could go out drinking with friends on the regular because all my friends were older than me and honestly nobody really wants to waste money at the bar most times. Shoulda gotten that fake ID I guess lmao. But otoh I never developed a drinking problem so that's good.

Weed is fun but shit's too strong these days unless you have a tolerance and smoke on the reg. I used to smoke (almost daily during early covid), but I've found over time that I simply will not get restful sleep if I smoke, and I will have depression/anxiety flareups the next day like clockwork, so I smoke way more sparingly now (found some good mid-low THC, high CBD stuff but with friends they often smoke giant joints, like going on cigar size, with strong ass weed so I gotta be so careful)

  • Kinda ate up how hard it is to get treated for ADHD given the symptoms of ADHD now that I think about it.

It's so fucked up ngl. perfectly designed to make sure people don't get treated

Also I too like energy drinks but if you're self medicating long term you might want to get your caffeine some other way, those things are super not good for your body if you're having them daily. I'm a coffee fiend, and I found some caffeine gum with L-theanine that I like too for something grab and go. Energy drinks I reserve for desperate situations lol, or just for fun occasionally

  • not too surprising tbh, IME most people that add creamer to their coffee also add sugar, since both cover up the bitterness. The smoker thing idk thoguh, must just be vibes or the company you keep.

I do really like my coffee black though, highly recommend it. Going from my parent's extremely dark, strongly brewed coffee with cream, to mostly lighter roasts and higher quality coffee, but black, I definitely find the latter more drinkable. sometimes I have to eat with it to balance out the acidity I guess but that happens even with dark roasts tbh

  • "I don't care about aliens" is not taking a position on whether they exist or what has or hasn't happened with them, which is what you implied with "what you think of aliens".

It's just a statement that Grownbravy doesn't know what is going on with the hearing because they have more important things to pay attention to rn, no reason to call someone illiterate jfc. There are a thousand legitimate reasons to shit on americans, why call out a comrade for a slight miscommunication instead?

  • Actual reason: no idea. But ostensibly, the house oversight committee convened the hearings to evaluate the " Implications on National Security, Public Safety, and Government Transparency" of the military's supposed secret interaction with and investigations into UAPs (politically correct term for UFOs). They are, again heavy grain of salt here, determining what's been going on in the military regarding these, evaluating the claims of these whistleblowers, and will presumably produce a report with both their findings, and thoughts on what they might do as elected officials to change US policy on UAPs, or at least to force the military to be more transparent .

  • I get so down when I don't have caffeine. like I'll do okay, I'll get some stuff done for a while, but as soon as I lose momentum I am just the most depressed/irritable version of myself and it's so hard to internalize that its just caffeine withdrawals setting in. I love caffeine too much to quit entirely (though I have cut way back in the past sometimes) but I do not enjoy being this dependent on it day to day

  • I don't know, but "Mt. Rushmore" is the name of the mountain, not just the faces on it.

I mean technically but in context I felt it was pretty clear. When has anyone ever seriously advocated for leveling a mountain because they didn't like something that was built on top of it

But yeah, point being I agree, leave it to the people whose land it is

  • This is my mother. A mostly kind person, and she won't go as far as these redditors, but she just can't accept that THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT ON THE STREET BECAUSE THEY "WANT TO BE THERE". Sure there are programs, not enough, but there are shelters and programs. Problem is they are all flawed and underresourced and not very good at actually getting people into housing. I feel like I sort of got through to her when I said I trusted the experiences of the homeless people who have to deal with those institutions, and that people don't simply not go to them for no reason (they don't want to lose all their posessions, pets, get robbed, etc. which is rampant in shelters) and she seemed sympathetic to the fact that "normal" people don't have to give up drinking and any other substance use "vices" to have a place to live. But she still called the city when someone was camped out a couple blocks from her home, not bothering anyone. She insisted it all went to a special department that helps people get off the street but honestly I'm willing to bet any outcome that doesn't promptly result in the homeless person leaving town results in the police being called.

  • “We are now being forced to witness the lashing of our land with pomp, arrogance, and fire, hoping our sacred lands survive,” Frazier said. “This brand on our flesh needs to be removed, and I am willing to do it free of charge to the United States, by myself if I must.”

  • not if you use enough of it. What I've seen online are persistent fires where is soon as the foam dissipates or whatever else you did to put the car out stops, and so the batteries are exposed to air and they reignite. And one actual way to deal with those is to dig a big pit and fill it with water and then just dump the car in it. after a while it everything is cooled off and I assume the conductivity of the water does have some discharging effect on the individual cells too?
