  • I feel like this wouldn't even work, it's probably hard to say if it would because this would be impossible to study if anyone had ethics. The wording makes it seem like it's one crank that suggested it, which makes more sense than it actually being considered. Can you imagine one of your coworkers coming to you and telling you about this? pepe-silvia

  • I want to like Mastodon, but I kind of fundamentally disagree with basing the algorithm around boosts. I think boosting things is annoying if you follow someone, I would rather see something akin to a quote tweet where they at least add something to the thing they are boosting. I know you can just mute all the boosts of people you follow, but I don't want to do any of the boosting either and it matters more than liking it to give stuff traction. I think the lemmy method of just being off of votes/engagement is a much better way of doing things.

  • I doubt many rules based order people consider the election democratic, it was widely reported in MSM that there was a ton of vote buying, etc.

The European Union, NATO and the United States have demanded a full investigation into reports of vote-buying, voter intimidation and ballot stuffing raised by monitors from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and other bodies.

I'm not saying the US state department is not involved, but I would not be very thrilled with this party even though it is the prominent anti western party. If you're a young person and see stuff like this happening it's not surprising that you would be protesting a party like this, especially if both Georgia Dream and the NGOs are telling you that EU membership and gay rights are linked to each other.

    From this fall, https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/georgian-parliament-approves-law-curbing-lgbt-rights-2024-09-17/

Georgian lawmakers on Tuesday approved the third and final reading of a law on "family values and the protection of minors" that would impose sweeping curbs on LGBT rights. The bill would provide a legal basis for authorities to outlaw Pride events and public displays of the LGBT rainbow flag, and to impose censorship of films and books. Leaders of the governing Georgian Dream party say it is needed to safeguard traditional moral standards in Georgia, whose deeply conservative Orthodox Church is highly influential.

Tamara Jakeli, director of campaign group Tbilisi Pride, said the bill, which also restates an existing ban on same-sex marriage and bans gender reassignment surgery, would likely force her organization to close its doors.

I know this is mostly related to the recent election and the foreign agents law, but, I'm sure there is a lot of resentment among young people for a very socially conservative party started by the richest man in the country.

Also I would probably put a content warning/nsfw tag on this meme for reasons that should be obvious

The other comment more or less sums it up, I would only add that they always displayed a certain amount of chauvinism especially in regards to landback, which if I'm not mistaken they were opposed to because they believed their poor white ancestors in the midwest also had a right to the land or something along those lines. And MidwesternMarx is Eddie Liger's YouTube channel, but they also published articles and featured other authors on the midwestern marx institute website so they were a little more then a YouTuber since they were actually publishing articles, and, now Eddie Liger is an "executive board member" of Jackson Hinkle's party ACP.
