Lemmy news is a cesspit from a post POV but other than that shrug
I think there are more straight shooters here, could be dude just had bad takes.
It is too easy to accidentally downvote.
whaat...c arrays are safe, just make sure to avoid bugs & use cases that make them unsafe! ;P
imo, when safety is required, use a diff language with in grammar options.

Great history!
I dunno, might be more fair to say that Open Office is in maint mode. A scan of 2023, looks like a light touch here and there...maybe there is some kind of IDE auto-format or an auto-delinter? Nothing wrong with that imo, pretty std practice.
Leave ‘em behind.
What should be and why it is, two diff questions…
A terminal renders a single glyph in a grid. That’s it. This stems from the days from before - when there was no graphics instruction to render anything different, and link speeds could be, on bad days, slower than typing speeds.
Terminal rendering evolved to include ANSI instruction to manipulate the rendering-color, grid position, etc.
However, at its core, is this limitation…a glyph in a grid…and this limitation is due to how slow terminals are.
Terminals originally operated at a serial baud rate where one could nearly type faster than the transmission speed.
X windows…was designed…to not have these limits.
Terminal emulation is handy, but … it is limited. By definition retro. If a terminal doesn’t work…move on…and make something that does :)
Keep fighting RMS and beat it.

Yes. the you that is most valuable to others, is you, as you are today, so right now is a perfectly fine time to embrace privacy focused practices!
Terminology was pretty dope in its day

The whole concept of terminal emulation is stuck. But would different be adopted?
Not being facetious but you could write your own tool. It might take a minute at first but then it would be yours and be totes worth it.
it’s not just a json config file, it’s a schema that can be used to validate its input, and a library to load, validate based on said schema, and convert to-in memory representation with no extra code.
I can’t help but wanted to say I feel this pain and you will find a soln! Keep at it! Sometimes a reinstall isn’t complete enough. Or a temp change you made is forgotten and the system is just doing what it’s told.
I am going to a bit counter culture here
Let your freak flag fly in university, as long as it doesn’t hurt others or yourself.
With luck, your friends will accept that you are a privacy weirdo but also respect what you do.
Avoid evangelizing as nobody likes a preacher, a vibe of ‘you do you’ keeps it light. You will find your peeps.
