The interesting thing is that despite the consciousness deadening effects of liberal identity politics, intersectional factors such as race, gender identity, religion etc. function as distinct social classes that intersect with the primary oppression of capital. Despite being WASPs, unemployed West Virginia coal miners left to rot addicted to opiates are subjugated by monopoly capitalism in the same way as the world's colonized, yet the difference in social classes cause people not perceive the mutual proletarian struggle present with the workers of the world. Capitalism and racism are inextricable due to half a millennium of slavery and colonization, and one cannot be abolished without the abolition of the other.
