Really enjoying these less “coherent” pieces!
Really enjoying these less “coherent” pieces!
It feels pretty terrible when it feels like you have to literally beg people to let you help them. So, if you’re ready to just move on, by all means. But, by any chance, did you post to Requests on BBOARD saying that you are interested in volunteering and that you sent an application by email but never got a response? It might be worth a try if you still have some action points to spare.
I just want to say, in any case, thanks for trying. This random stranger really appreciates it.
It’s frustrating and it makes me sad and disappointed to see the SDF so unresponsive to pretty much all issues (even those raised on the system itself, about the system).
That being said, I actually feel like it makes me do the opposite of waste time, because it’s virtually impossible for me to get sucked into an upsetting interaction here that has no broader consequence beyond making me feel bad.
So I take it they never responded to your volunteer application?
Is the worried penguin the one holding the newspaper in the first frame, who then hands it to the other one who we see holding it in the second frame?
Hey I’ve been thinking about this same thing.
http://sdf.org/?tutorials/sdf_volunteers This link gives a lot of information about volunteering to be a system administrator for sdf. Don’t know how up to date it is, but I’d definitely start there.
Thanks for documenting this! That is pretty concerning :(.
Has anyone tried actually logging into the system and posting a complaint to the help desk or asking around in comm or irc? It seems like the only thing that hasn’t been tried.
“Could” as if there’s a possibility it will respect your privacy lmfao
I will call it “the BBS known as Absin” instead or “Absin the BBS” for short.
You should login to the system and express your concerns! I do agree lack of communication from within the platform is frustrating. But the sdf does have a help desk and chat rooms where you can reach the people who maintain the system.
The entire instance went down for me for a while. Also sdf.org itself has been failing to resolve all day. Has anyone tried logging into the system and popping on com or irc and asking around? Someone there might have a better clue what’s going on because I think there’s more issues than just lemmy right now. Dont forget the server that runs this lemmy instance is literally a public access server and you have the ability to raise issues directly with staff there.
See you on December 14th, in 380 years.
