You could very well have a fruitful conversation about the book if the group isn't simply sycophantic. Lots of very true observations but you've got to keep a critical eye on when and where it was written, of course.

I'd read something else of Engels'. His history in Origins of the Family is interesting enough, and I think does plot a reasonable picture of the Western Family Unit, but lots of the book is outdated / overly general wrt so-called primitive cultures. Can't hurt to critically engage the text if you were hooked from the intro, you do you.
