  • Trista is a Swede/Iranian working in the US. As an foreign policy expert, he is generally critical of the US empire and how stupid its diplomatic efforts are in regards to especially Iran.

I appreciate that he is always factually correct and refrain from spin such as calling Hamas and Hezbollah "terror organizations" which is common elsewhere in the West.

He is also willing to say things we "know" that other "experts" try to avoid. In the above example, he rightly assumes that the assassination was carried out by Israel even though we will likely never have convulsive evidence of that.

When it comes to predictions and the quality of his analysis, he tend to be OK. He often gives personalities and individuals more importance for shaping world events than I'd care for but he is generally pessimistic that the US is going to be successful with its global affairs, diplomatic efforts and wars. I think he's approach to International Relations is from an academic area studies which makes him less dogmatic.

  • Great comment! I will borrow some of your wordings but I want to keep this as simple as possible. The core issue is that the Commission can't do foreign policy but the Council can. There has been a blur of the roles and they are trying to cover for it.

International law is something else. I can start a new line of questioning around that. Actually, I'd love to do that! However, I don't want to mix this issue with that. I think that the right body to address war crimes is The European Court of Human Rights. I can sue any state and EU entity there but I need to show damages. That somehow, I am being hurt by their actions.

  • This is my draft response:

    Hi,

I didn't ask you about the EU's position on Hamas and Israel. I asked about the unlawful engagement of foreign policy done by the individuals at the EU Commission. Either you provide grounds for what supersede the code that I referred to or you explain to me how they are in line within the limitations of the mentioned capabilities of the commission. You also failed to advise me to report any transgression of individuals to the police since this is a crime punished in Sweden with at most 2 years in prison.

I will pursue this to its full extent unless you clearly tell me in detail that individuals are in compliance with regulations.

I give you three (3) days to do so. Playing games with me is not to my amusement.

    ....

    Any improvement is much appreciated.

  • Rights group to prosecute Labour's Starmer for complicity in Israel's war crimes in Gaza

International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) has today issued UK Labour leader Keir Starmer, Shadow Attorney General for England and Wales Emily Thornberry and Shadow Defence Secretary David Lammy with a notice of intention to prosecute UK politicians for their role in aiding and abetting Israel’s perpetration of war crimes.

  • Sorry, I just did a lib-thing but oh boy it felt good! Apparently, the EU Commission is not allowed to represent the EU on any foreign policy stuff according to its charters (Title 2, Article 17, Code of Conduct for the Members of the European Commission). But we have all seen Ursula von der Leyen hug mass murdering Israel as if it was Santa and do all kind of foreign policy stuff.

So I dug up the charter and emailed the Commission with my most lib lawyer voice I could muster and told them that they need to cease and desist their constitutional overstep. Pointed out that in my country, it carries a 2 years prison sentence for not following the expected constraints of a public office.

I'm almost completely sure that nothing happens but let se if "rule based order" also include the rules that they have made for themselves :) (yeah, it won't but I'll take any number that is greater than 0%)
