They did do donations but maybe it wasn't enough 🤷 https://blog.opensubtitles.com/opensubtitles/thank-you-for-donations
It wouldn't surprise me if "VIP" was originally a tier given for donations which had some benefits.
Edit: that's indeed the case https://blog.opensubtitles.com/opensubtitles/free-vip-membership-for-first-20-users
It sucks, sure. But it's been free for a really long time, and it costs money to run a service.
You can't really expect that a service will serve an increasing amount of people free stuff forever.
At least making people visit the site will encourage them to upload and help keep the service up.
Btw, it's not expensive and if you think it is. Just use some other service.
Their website is still free and every legal way to watch movies already includes subtitles.
The network troubleshooter often works alright. Just never run it if you have setup a bunch of virtual switches in hyper V or something, because it will delete them or otherwise fuck them up and it's pretty annoying to restore (you have to remove them via device Manager and stuff)
How many gifs, memes and random images do you guys [hexbear users] have on speed dial?
This has basically always been the case for Disney plus in my country since shortly after launch.
We don't have Hulu but loads of programs from there (and elsewhere) are on what Disney plus calls "star"
There is also Wiztree which is WAY faster than both SpaceSniffer and WinDirStat.
It can scan a 8 TB HDD in a few seconds and not hours (exaggeration) like WinDirStat
If you're from the EU you can just reject all cookies and all ads disappear.
Isn't the storage on MP3 players usually very limited?
I don't get the point of IPTV anymore.
Sure you get it for free or cheap, but you couldn't pay me to watch regular TV in a world with streaming (and Piracy).
I am not saying I like YouTube, but they are actually one of the best when it comes to paying their creators.
Pretty much every popular creator from other platforms (like tiktok) goes to YouTube once they are big and want to earn money.
And yes of course they earn more on Patreon, but if I recall correctly most YouTubers get most of their money from YouTube, because they have their biggest audience.
De-monitisation is a pretty huge problem for many though.
