There is no such thing as a "successful socialist country" and there never can be since Karl Marx didn't design one. What he did was to write a manifesto that some very stupid but extremely crafty and greedy people picked up and ran with in order to create a "new" kind of government which is really nothing more than a revamping and modernization of the old 18th century European monarchies. These old Monarchies were, of course, completely untouchable by the people, totally controlled the people, used (often extreme) force when they felt threatened by the people and really didn't care about the general populations at all. Really, who wants to go back to that?
