@Aboel3z@programming.dev are you going to actually interact with the community or are you just trying to drive traffic?
Also if you could code from a young age why would you say you only learned in 2019 while working night shifts in a factory?

The only reason I started commenting on their posts instead of blocking is because I’m not thrilled with this user being the introduction to someone new to the community. It’s just spam and writing prompts. If @Aboel3z@programming.dev wanted to hang out in the comments and talk about the writing (like authors do on HN or Mastodon or Twitter or LinkedIn or wherever else you actually want a discussion not numbers going up), I’d lay off.
@Aboel3z@programming.dev are you ever going to interact with the community or are you just pushing your blog?
Also how did you solve this problem in 2010 if you only learned how to code in 2019?

Ahhhhhh good clarification! Sorry for missing the location point.
Since OP is in the UK, I can pull out “nonplussed.” Current American usage of the word is a lack of surprise or general acceptance. I am nonplussed when news arrives that another politician was caught in a sex scandal. Non-American usage is complete surprise and an inability to act. The Scot was nonplussed when the drunk American vomited noisily on his shoes.
Edit: I am firmly in the “general acceptance” camp and usually have to process for a second or two when someone uses it in its traditional sense.
No other company will contribute to LXD now. This is 100% a Canonical tool. Were the big clouds looking at deploying LXD so Canonical tried to block them?
Mods think this is a hot take.
I think you missed the clarifier (“not necessarily”) in the quote you pulled. I also think you’re misconstruing data and conclusions. Using your example, there is certainly a racial bias in crime statistics. One claim from that data is that certain races tend to commit more crime. A different claim is that the practice of applying the law is racist. I feel like the former claim wouldn’t be reproducible; the latter most likely is

The last post I commented this on has been deleted. I will say this is the first article I’ve seen that wasn’t under your normal byline; given the comparable writing style it kinda seems like it’s still your article.

I am incredibly partial to Computer Modern Unicode because it’s a Unicode-capable version of the default LaTeX font. I’ve used this web port of Computer Modern for a very long time as well.

In all fairness to Pocket Casts, the yearly cost in the US is $40, which is about the monthly cost of the three things you mentioned together. If your country gives you yearly Google Play Pass, YouTube Premium, and Spotify Premium for less than $40 US, that’s a fucking steal.
In all fuck you to Pocket Casts, Basic App functionality like folders shouldn’t be behind a subscription. I can understand a one-time unlock fee for app functionality or ongoing subscription costs to cover cloud storage and sync capabilities. I cannot fucking understand why folders would cost me $40 US a year.
It’s a complicated story. I had to look around a bunch to really understand the student perspective here. It sounds like ICE was doing sketchy ICE shit and preying on vulnerable people who, realistically, should be able to be here anyway. However, it also sounds like some of the people involved knew they were participating in fraudulent activity and still took advantage of others. ICE is shitty for taking advantage of folks and deporting people just trying to live. Those with some knowledge of the system were taking advantage of others to recruit them for financial gain. And everyone else was just trying to live.
I’m really fucking glad I checked the comments because I wasn’t aware anyone outside of the circlejerk that is Pitchfork and its advertisers actually cared about Pitchfork. “Esteemed alternative publication” seems like a huge stretch. My background is heavy shit and Midwest DIY so maybe it just never caught on in those scenes and there are scenes where Pitchfork was more than punchline.
