We need higher density zoning, and better public transport.
Hubs of high density housing joined by good public transport is, IMO, the answer.
Urban sprawl certainly isn't it. And these housing estates where they cram 30 houses on an acre is rubbish. All the negatives is single home ownership without any of the positives.
Also: why the hell doesn't government have more trades on the books? QBuild could be so much more than it is.
But what if....

Sleeping in on Australia Day, cause what's the point of public holidays if you don't spend half of it snoring your head off?
Late start, kip in the AC later, and an early bed time. Absolute perfection.
trk's song of the day: OMNIA - Fee Ra Huri (Live).
Apparently this is "neoceltic pagan folk", according to the band themselves.
They sing in English, French, Breton, Finnish, German, Dutch, Swedish, Latin, and Hindi, and play Celtic harp, mouth harp, hurdy-gurdy, bodhrán, guitar, bouzouki, didgeridoo, flutes of all kinds, bagpipes, various drums and percussion instruments.
Their music is very eclectic, and I do enjoy a good flute and some doo-doo-di-di-doo's.
I, uh, let you win...
The early Lemmington gets the daily thread
Literally inconsolable at this defeat to the daily thread...
Hey ChatGPT, draw me and the bandicoot being sad.

trk's song of the day: Bic Runga - Close Your Eyes
Another one I'm not super confident on the genre of - pop headed somewhere towards psychedelic synth rock, maybe?
She's basically Australian because she's from New Zealand and that means we get first dibs. The album its from - named the same as the title track Close Your Eyes - is mostly covers, but Close Your Eyes and Dream A Dream are originals and my favourites on the album.
Whee!

I was up at 1am collecting toads and checking our fence hadn't fallen over in the storm. Found our pal the juvenile python hanging out on the veranda again. Can't believe s/he's back on the move after eating at least 2 baby rats a few nights back. Thought they'd be sleeping for a month.
Then I was up at 5am checking the fence again because I had a dream it collapsed and the dogs had got out. Turns out the neighbours fence collapsed, but ours is fine.
Should have used one of those opportunities to beat the bandicoot. Not a euphemism. Or is it...
this person is whining about cold calls while people are literally dying
Jesus mate, there's a reason people don't take you seriously.
Of course not, snowflakes are inanimate objects and the cause of an avalanche are external forces not the combined desire of the snowflakes to go tumble down a mountain for personal snowflake advantage.
Yeah, it's a pity there isn't a law against it I guess. If I sold that one extra house I'm hoarding the housing crisis would be pretty much over tbh.
I've made it through half a dozen tracks, but I dont think Deathcore is for me. Too much of the raahhhh screams and the ruh ruh ruh ruh growls without enough of the melody and harmony bit.
Always good to have some variety in the playlist though. And woo, Brisbane!
trk's song of the day: LORD - End Of Days.
Yesterday I busted out what I consider to be the best electronic song ever... this time comes my nomination for best metal song of all time. Pretty contentious because there's some big ones out there, but from a purely personal view this is a track that ticks all the boxes. Fanging guitars, screamy bois, drums that kick hard, and that delightful mix of melody and raaahhhh that just feels so good.
The whole Set In Stone album is fantastic, but the pinnacle is definitely End Of Days in my opinion. Other stand outs are the title track, and Forever which is a video clip worth checking out. The album ends with New Horizons which is super mellow. The video clip for that one is good too.
LORD are an Australian metal band that's been around since 2003. Lord Tim founded Dungeon back in the day which was apparently popular? Bit before my time but it gets referenced a lot and toured with Megadeth so can't have been too shabby. Andy Dowling runs a podcast and sells records and is generally a productive kinda bloke.
I really like their video clips - so good seeing Australian scenery and a nice little dab of comedy:
If you want a stupid amount of content, check out their Youtube channel - pretty much all their albums are on there to listen to: https://www.youtube.com/@LORDofficial
Gotta be quick to beat a 5am! You win this round, Bandicoot.
Its Lynx Africa, isnt it?
That em dash looks long af :-\
