Most of the users in that thread appear to be against defederating, actually. I'm seeing a lot of "I don't really like Hexbear but I think defederation should be a last resort, just block them" comments. Most of the "defederate Hexbear now!" noise is from a small handful of bad-faith whiners.

I think the ability for individual users to block entire instances will drastically reduce the number of calls for defederation.
