Am I a Badass or a Jackass for running in the heat tonight? The Stoic philosophy teaches that in a world where no one can avoid hard times, the best way to live is to embrace adversity when it comes and use it to get stronger and to do better. I believe this. I also believe that once in a while it's good to challenge yourself and make yourself do things that are hard and that you would really prefer not to do.

I just finished running my usual 7-7.5 miles in the stifling heat. It was very hot, very humid, and very cool! Patti thinks I'm crazy and she may be right. But I'm glad I did it because I know from firsthand experience that when things get tough, you can draw the strength you need to face the hard times by reminding yourself that you're no stranger to hardship.

Hope all of you are well.

Running in the heat doesn't make you a god-tier athlete. That's what humans are literally built for dickhead.

I've started running less than a month ago and I can still do a 5k in 100+ degree heat.
