    This isn't anything to do with lgbt people though. It's to do with homogenous standards that are problematic across all asian television. The thing they're going after is this problem of mass producing exactly ONE type of person across media. That one thing that was internally posted by one person at a tv company that got heavily seized on and propagandised by western media because of its shitty wording was (unsurprisingly) very misleading about the actual problem of young male beauty standards in media that exists and what China is trying to do about it.

      we had a struggle session about that when it happened, it is queerphobic in effect even if they're not moustache twirling cartoon villains out to hurt us specifically.

        Right but that's on the guy that announced it internally at that network for being a dick about it. The actual goal being targeted - to reduce the beauty standard and spread more interesting diversity across media, is a good thing.

        Calling it "girly men" is certainly a bad thing. But deliberately misunderstanding what the problem is as they see it and why they're targeting it is also bad.
