We're raised to be so smugly full of shit here, talking about world politics in myopic terms of individual psychology, reducing the course of human events to "is this a good guy or a bad guy?". Doesn't need to be more conplicated than that, because by that point in the conversation the waiter has usually arrived and we got to sound very smart and sophisticated while we were waiting for the treats.
