Personally i blame this on protestantism but thats a rant for another post lol

I'd bet 95% of us here are familiar with the problems of the 'protestant work ethic,' so I'd love to hear that.

I think people have post the plot (lol) of media/content creation and can no longer enjoy things through an objective lens or without being incredibly personal to it. You see it with Harry Potter weirdos, the rage at the end of GOT, etc. People think shit was like made for them and they make it a part of their life and any affront to it is an affront to them. It seems like people completely forget that there are people behind these projects who dont once think of them during the creation.

This aspect of media consumption is tapked about often, but my theory is this isna side effect of the actual protestant religious theory that the most important part of bible is what your personal relationship is with it. All these churches scream is that your personal relationship with jesus and your personal relationship with the bible is the most important aspect and i think people have extended this out to other media and that is why you get fanatic obsessions (even to a religious degree) that people have with the media they consume. They are literally treating it as if it is a religious text with protestant personal relationship views.

Anyway im sure this can be framed much better but this is my running theory loll.
