Horror can be reactionary but it cannot be conservative. As a genre, horror is defined by its subversive elements. Remove those from a horror game and all that you're left with is a poorly lit walking simulator.
Yeah. Some zombie fiction is reactionary (there are definitely reactionary elements to The Walking Dead, not my precious beautiful baby boy Telltale game version though!!!!) but I wouldn't call them conservative. Conservatives dont call themselves reactionary though, so you get a conflation. But also Silent Hill 3 and Dino Crisis are both like, actively NOT reactionary or conservative. Also the anti-wokes would hate both if they were released today right like? Heather and Regina would be despised? Not overtly sexualized strong female main characters?
