Nope, you were just way more annoying than you generally care to remember. Sorry you had to find out this way.

If you say, "but actually I wasn't annoying as a teenager." Sorry, you missed your chance! Not my problem!

It's tradition that every generation critiques the media consumption of the next, but I feel strongly that advertisement laden, AI generated Elsa and Spiderman content with subway surfers underneath makes for dogshit attention spans. How could you focus on anything? You're in a decaying empire and see no hope for the future and your teacher getting paid $14/hr isnt going to disagree with you. It's got to be such a bleak and nihilistic humor. I was laughing at 9/11 to be edgy, you're huffing Andrew Tate and Trackmania so hard you couldn't think of a joke to regurgitate about our planet burning. I've seen the shit that my friend has for her child in her iPad and how he has to ask her to pay for these shitty little mobile games. I wish he would just play an old Pokemon game but I doubt it could hold his attention.

My gen alpha equivalent has to be a little goblin. There's no way they're not. They might still rebel the same and be similarly annoying/delinquent, but there has to be some consequences for their consumption: media or otherwise (food, political discourse, privatized public space)

the kids are fine, the media they (and we) are consuming is definitely worse. it lacks the effort and coherency and care of culture, but also the danger and honesty of counterculture. everyone's just a different kind of gooner now.
