I am aware of attempts to take back Pepe (and to try to appropriate "Groyper," which was a mutation of Pepe specifically rooted in internet fascism), but the symbol still primarily stands for chanlord-style fascism.

It helps I think that Pepe's original creator wants it taken back.

And i will say i think its casual use on nonfashy twitch streams helps take away its fashy power, but thats just me. I totally respect anyone who think its too far gone.

I think that original creator gave up, unfortunately.

Damn imagine having your creation taken from you and used for something like that. Shit like this makes me question my stance on IP abolition.

IP abolition would require so many other social and legal changes that it would probably be a moot point. Someone appropriating something for reactionary ends should be punished for those reactionary goals. Cynically using IP law against reactionaries is just using the tools currently available.

Yeah, you're right. I guess what I meant is that it makes me want to be sure to not put the cart before the horse on IP abolition, IE do it before those social and legal changes are in place.

I want to be for complete and total IP abolition myself but at the moment I don't actually know where I truly stand there. I'd hate it if something I created got turned into yet another nazi puppet.
