Hi everyone! We’ve noticed this spotiness as well and will be doing some additional server upgrades (hopefully) over this next week or so.

Hi there!
Hexbear.net remains user-run by a team that has joined across the site’s lifespan. Following multiple doxxing attacks and death threats against past admins, we do not specify "who" beyond that.
Regarding the site's current intentions, goals, and objectives they are as follows:
We currently have no desire to aggressively "grow" the site through marketing as we believe that by continuing to follow the aforementioned principles, the site will continue to expand in a positive and organic way. Our daily active users have gradually increased over time and those metrics are publicly displayed in both the "online" and "members" metrics on the main page.
Our top priority in terms of development is the ongoing lemmy refork. An outline of which can be found here: https://hexbear.net/post/159221
Additionally, if anyone wishes to volunteer to moderate a community please see this post: https://hexbear.net/post/121411
Thanks for reading and viva la Hexbear!
@Link - please update your post title to show this question has been answered and your original statement is incorrect.
Mods will be removing this shortly since it is posted in the wrong comm and inaccurate.
Hi there! none of these people / accounts are actual sitemods. This account is used for outbound communication. We’ll post something responding to this in the next couple of days.

If anyone here works as or knows a lawyer and is up for working with us on going after these cryptobros, send us a dm.
We want to pursue all available options to protect our community’s valuable intellectual property (tm).
Hi there! A block feature is something that would be great to see on the site. Hexbear is an all volunteer project, so we are unable to provide specific timeframes for new features. We're always up for additional help however to speed things along!
We encourage everyone in the community who is as passionate about Hexbear as we are to pitch in and contribute to the project. Here’s how to get started. It's a lot of fun to build collectively!

Hi there! Could you please edit this to remove the background in the image? Once you have, please resubmit, thanks!
Hi there! Please repost this to !emoji@hexbear.net so it can be considered for addition to the site. Thanks!
It’s a legal grey area and a liability issue. We don’t actively remove posts unless they violate our code of conduct or a comm’s more detailed rules.
If you have constructive suggestions for a specific area of improvement, please post in !userunion@hexbear.net so we can review it. :halal:
Thanks! We believe it will help with separating personal opinion from site policy. Reddit has a "distinguish" feature for moderator comments and posts, which we unfortunately do not have. Since we very much believe in utilizing the tools available, we chose to go with dedicated accounts for moderation.
We fully encourage everyone to utilize !finance@hexbear.net and as a part of our mod drive will be looking for mods who are interested in helping to facilitate that. We're unable to explicitly endorse illegal activities such as shoplifting, however there are plenty of posts that we might occasionally overlook on the topic.
Great question! The anonymized modlog provides an additional layer of security for our volunteers. The specific moderators behind actions are still visible internally at the sitemod / admin level. This allows for internal accountability and identifying when miscommunication occurs.
For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, here is the announcement post for our new admin / sitemod team! Please keep questions / comments to that thread, thank you. :halal:
