So every time Israel commits a fresh crime (every second, but the major ones get more attention) they're gonna have to replay something about October 7th, which has been so distorted by Israel by this point (40 beheaded babies, inflated number of deaths, pretending they were all civilians and then later admitting a huge number of them were military but still calling them "victims" as if soldiers are civilians) that we may as well just assume nothing Israel claims is actually fact?
we may as well just assume nothing Israel claims is actually fact?
I predict that within ~10 days a NYT columnist (I'm nearly certain it'll be Bret Stephens) will have a column titled something like "We Must Trust Israel". It will be a short and laughable article. The savagery of October 7th must be punished. How can people have already forgotten the brutal attack was the greatest loss of Jewish life since the Holocaust? Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East. It's a moral necessity to allow Israel to do what it needs to do for its national security interests. The military situation is complex and such notions as a ceasefire are ill-advised nonsense. In war it's possible that fighting might happen at a hospital. War is a blunt instrument afterall. And yada yada fucking yada.
The writer will have "forgotten" to explain why it is we must trust Israel. Comments will be off - of course. The Times is delivering a lecture.
