""I come from a long line of people who served our country—my grandfather, my father, myself, my husband, and now my son served in the United States Navy. We thought that kind of mattered," she added.

"We thought that we should be able to find a safe place to retire. We thought the federal government and the government of Florida would respect our contributions to this country, and with Florida that has not been the case."

Me throwing other humans into the bloody gearworks of capital: this shit is awesome hell yeah!

me getting picked up and dangled over the maw next: wait this sucks now. Fuck.

This is so bizarre. Do they not see the countless homeless veterans begging on the streets? Or how the VA is a running joke in the veteran community? If they truly are "patriots," how are they so unaware of the problems their people face, and if they are aware, why do they think they're so special and that these things won't affect them? You have to literally take the grill pill or just be obsessed with culture war shit to not notice these things.

“I’m special, unlike those other stupid morons who deserved it.”

They generally don't notice, or are unable to frame it as a problem that's solvable by anyone besides the people on the streets.
