Some chess sites (at least lichess iirc but im pretty sure that chess.com does it too) show the country of each player, so I think these are the opponents the player is being matched with
It's worth noting that you can actually opt not to show your country or choose to show a different country in the chess.com settings so this person is purposely putting the Israeli flag on their account and getting sad that people are giving them pushback on it
