EU membership is usually a carrot dangled in front of countries to make them NATO bases, not the other way. Also no way Ukraine will join EU, people like Polish govt might scream for it, but they exactly know it's impossible and they don't even want to (especially Poland, if Ukraine was admitted to EU the trade disputes PL have with UA would blow up straight up in Poland's face).
