    I was too clever by a half with the magna Carta part and feel the need to explain. Magna Carta worship came from George Washington and friends, in the middle ages it just gave more voice to local feudal lords and other aristocratic dudes over the king and either didn't affect the peasantry at all or was a net negative cause you had local business tyrants doing the squeeze instead of a far away guy who had a whole country to deal with.

        Oh, entirely. Add that to their weird Rome obsession, which was based on a mideval or as they'd call it 'dark age' description of Rome, cause those were the last guys in history to suck off Rome and they got most stuff wrong. Imagine a dude who acts like a redditor before Wikipedia was a thing. That's the founding fathers, just the most annoying guys.
