      Japan recently pledged $4 billion. My read on this is that the US very much does still care but aid is now a political issue so it is providing said aid through vassal states instead to keep its own books clean.

      Oh, they "care" in that they want their vassals to sell weapons to Ukraine, so they can then sell weapons to their vassals.
