I like how this bill literally puts migrants into a prisoner's dilemma type situation. Couldn't just do physical torture, had to throw in a "If I try to cross with my family I could end up shutting down the border for weeks."

Anyway, Texas and other states will say that crossings are enter bullshit number here and never source those to justify never allowing any migrant in.

Once shutdown, there would have to be fewer than 3.7k encounters per day for two weeks to reopen. In December, there was an average of 14k encounters per day. They won't even have to fake the numbers to ensure the border remains shut.

This is the point, it's essentially shutting down the border and removing the right to seek asylum on an 'ongoing' basis.

Indeed. It's remarkable how this deal demonstrates what electoralism has gotten us. Just Lawful Evil and Chaotic Evil fighting over aesthetics.

Also would love one of those intelligent reasonable liberals to explain to me if they think the number of attempted crossing will go DOWN or UP after you refuse to count a bunch from the day before who probably aren't going to just shrug their shoulders and walk back into the lions den.
