It's been a thing for a while now.
Republicans use "Democrat" as an adjective instead of "Democratic" basically to say that the party isn't actually democratic.
Of course, they're not wrong on that, but they also aren't democratic.
The people complaining about this are the same people who will make fun of you for calling the CPC the CPC instead of the CCP.
