The data she highlights is very interesting even if I have the knowledge gaps about the book ecosystem that prevent me from seeing the full picture. I am just reading "capitalism sucks" over and over again.
What's depressing for me is writers seem like pawns from how these big publishing houses talk about them. So many interesting potential authors and potential books must have been discouraged from even putting pen to paper while god knows how many acres of forest have been decimated to print drivel on them comjured by hacks like Michelle Obama and her ghostwriters.
This is why I was recently saying in other post that I try to buy physical copies of all the books I find meaningful. I wouldn't be surprised if, in the future, many books which do not make money are just put out of print. All we'll be left with are new copies of Twilight and Jill Biden's memoirs.
Thankfully there are digital resources of political works because comrades put work into it but I think it's also extremely important to get physical copies of these books before they disappear in physical form.
Maybe if I had more money. Books are expensive :(
True. I was lucky I experienced excellent local bookstores with affordable, used books.
But, all the more reason to collect if you can to share with others later.
