    Looks like Amerikkkans might just get their Chinese EVs, but at a literal 5-10x markup price lmao

    Would be a super interesting way for China to bypass US tariffs. Push them through using their joint partnerships with Japanese and Korean car companies lmao. I'd imagine they'd share the IP and they get a % cut or something

      What I really wanna see is if the LFP batteries last substantially longer, since battery life accounts for a huge portion of the value loss for electric vehicles.

      Is a 10 year old BYDToyota EV gonna have a better bluebook value than a 10 year old tesla or BMW that was bought for 4x the price?

        what I want is a replaceable modular battery, preferably standardized to drive down costs

          Batteries are heavy. A lot of EVs have ~1000 lbs of batteries in them.

          A few EV companies have done battery swapping stations, where you drive on top of the battery changer, and it takes your old battery, and lifts 1000 lbs of battery into the car. This has an overall advantage in that the batteries can be slow-charged, while providing even faster refueling times than fast charging.

        The batteries are probably the same or better since China dominates battery/EV battery tech. I'd imagine the Toyota and BMW ones are just sourced from Chinese battery companies

          Most non-chinese (and a lot of chinese) EVs, such as BMW currently use NMD, it's slightly denser, but has to be cooled more and has a shorter life.
