In his first public appearance as the newly appointed defense minister, Andrei R. Belousov spoke about veterans’ benefits and overcrowded hospitals rather than a new offensive in Ukraine.
Belousov is actually one of the few high ranking officials who do not subscribe to such neoliberal crap and an actual proponent of mobilization economy aka war communism.
If anything, we are seeing a shift of the Russian military industrial sector away from such grifting model commonly seen in Western neoliberal economies and reforming into a real productive sector.
This is actually surprising on many levels because the rest of the cabinet remained virtually unchanged i.e. the neoliberals are still largely in charge. I don’t know what’s the play here with Putin but one thing for certain is that the Russian military sector is going in the right direction.
