IDK how you managed to dig up this month old comment of mine but basically, Lysenko was like: what if Mendelian inheritance wasn't all there was to it? What if non genetic factors could also influence the phenotype of offspring?
Today, that field of study is known as epigenetics, which did end up more or less agreeing with some of Lysenko's findings, but with different mechanisms of action than he initially theorized.
During his time though, with the cold war going on, science also became an ideological battleground, with the west smearing Lysenko's theories as pseudoscience, while the USSR may have overreacted in rejecting some parts of western scientific orthodoxy.
So yeah, dude was smart, got a lot of stuff right and a lot of stuff wrong, but everything was viewed through the lens of cold war ideology, which blinded people to a lot of things that may appear obvious to us now.
Completely understandable, I would never entertain these myths in front of non leftists, but it's like ironically posting "you can only get one kind of haircut in North Korea", taking western propaganda at face value is so absurd it becomes funny.
Indeed, unfortunately I know there are some people among us who believe the anti-Lysenko bs. I was once one of them, and was swayed by a false allusion to him.
Which stage of Lysenkoism is this
come on, that's a grave insult to comrade trofim. he wasn't this fucking dumb
Yeah once you get past the ideological veil Lysenko did get proven right eventually on a decent number of his hypotheses.
As someone who doesn't know shit about this, I'd like to know more.

It's a joke lol.
And yes, he was right on some of it, and wrong on some others. Epigenetics is real but doesn't really cover all of his theories.
Ok, I just don’t want to perpetuate myths around him or associate him with this nonsense.
