Edit: to answer your question, PETA is fine. They're an NGO. Ya, they don't threaten capitalism, but unlike nearly every NGO they don't work to strengthen it. I've done activism with them and they're VERY generous with offering help and funding, which isn't the case with other non-profits. They legitimately care about animals, less so their careers. A small percentage of their bagillion campaigns are considered cringy, but at least they do shit to make animal abusers feel uncomfortable.

We aren't listening to material power, we have ideals about democracy and fairness, and we value discussion and conflict. Honestly I think that all of those are good and admirable things. I wouldn't want to be friends with someone who didn't genuinely want those.
