We have a comm for effort posting. The point of the_dunk_tank is to present a post and say to everyone "hey look how silly this is, let's ridicule it." If someone is going to break down why a post is wrong it should go to c/effort. If someone is just screen-shotting an Elon tweet, that's not really effort, it's just ridiculing someone with influence. In that case, if we keep everything the same, rule 8 should be better worded as "Don't ridicule people who have no influence in broader society." This avoids making it all about upvotes/views and, I think, touches on the main concern of those who want rule 8.
So
Elon tweet with explanation of history/sociology/economics = c/effort
Elon tweet with chiding mockery = c/the_dunk_tank
pepehittler69 says something ridiculous = who cares?
or
Elon tweet with explanation or mockery = c/the_dunk_tank
