That doesn't make any sense because all the computers we used today were developed via capitalism.

It would be pretty funny if most of the modern IT infrastructure was built and ran on open source technology, protocols and standards, wouldn't it?

I don’t even know what that means. Really I don’t actually know how a computer works, but what I do know is basically every major part of a computer was developed by the state with tax money, so fuck them for making me pay for it.

I could have said it better but basically what I’m saying is essentially everything that makes a computer work was researched and developed using state funding. The fact that we as a society make commodities out of computers instead of just using them for their use value is dumb.

...which is mostly funded and developed by American companies.

Red Hat gets money to develop Linux via RHEL support contracts with other companies. As far as I'm aware, very little government money is directly funding development of software in the US, and that's already missing the forest for the trees, since we're talking about the capitalist United States. It's a stretch to say that computers or open source software or whatever were actually developed in spite of capitalism. There's stuff like Germany's Sovereign Tech Fund that goes towards various open source things, but that funding is also from a capitalist government.

There is definitely a lot of computer science research that happens at universities, which private companies profit from greatly (same as with every other industry), and that's the whole point of that relationship. But again, it's still the US we're talking about. This is how the US works. You can't say, "computers were developed in a capitalist country, with approval of the capitalist ruling class, for the benefit of capitalists, but they're actually not good because of capitalism".

Buddy the only one missing the forest for the trees is you. Every major component of a computer was developed using state funding. Period. No one gives a fuck about whatever the hell it is you’re talking about.
