I need to use that word far more often.

Ninja edit: Wait a minute. To begin with - I need to use it for the very first time in a sentence.

I think “vilify” might be a more common word for that purpose, although “villainize” does sound more fun.

I'm a native speaker and I like to use unusual words once in a while. But I somehow never actually got around to using villainize. And when it comes to the lib mindset - vilify lacks panache.
