    I think “vilify” might be a more common word for that purpose, although “villainize” does sound more fun.

      I'm a native speaker and I like to use unusual words once in a while. But I somehow never actually got around to using villainize. And when it comes to the lib mindset - vilify lacks panache.

        Then, I say to you this, be like Marx - understand some other languages, and basically calque up any foreign phrases of interests...

        That goes without saying - is English one for "cela va sans dire"
