People are still playing cards against humanity?

Monopoly was invented to be a slog of a game because it was meant to show the heinousness of landlordism

monopoly "slander" is just true. I'm sorry but it's a really really badly designed board game. If you enjoy it I don't blame you but I would look at other resource accumulation strategy games like Terraforming Mars or even deck builders like Star Realms too.

i mean, i suppose it depends on how you play it. with my group it's all about the backroom deals and screwing over your friends by manipulating their decisions. but then we have played it maybe 7 times over the past 10 years 😅

that's a completely respectable way to have fun but that's more effort or inclinations on you and your friends part than the game. there are many games designed around that and monopoly honestly isn't really that well designed for deal-making or dramatic gaslight gatekeep girlboss

Acquire is a much better board game that came out around the same time, but unfortunately was not as popular.

I've had success converting people to playing wingspan if they're over age 30

People don't need to play heavy strategy games, but CAH is a relic of early 2000s edgy humor, and there are better and funnier light silly party games by now. Play Telestrations or Wavelength or Happy Salmon instead. Even if you want to impress your friends with crude jokes, Say Anything is a better vessel for it.
