"Could be the ratchet effect. Lemmygrad and Hexbear are both explicitly Marxist-Leninist, but .ml is explicitly FOSS and Privacy based, just with Marxist-Leninist admins."

This was back when I tried to get PugJesus to try to understand how deeply unserious they were, and generally tried to appear less threatening to liberals to hopefully lead some to question liberalism or even read theory

(Spoiler: it didn't work)

Specifically, it was in reference to Lemmy.world becoming more and more right-wing as the target boogeyman shifts from more overt to less overt leftism, especially since ml removed leftist from its description.

Kinda funny seeing it up there now that I've made a Hexbear account

Those are wild odds, haha. Didn't realize Mad Max had deep lore, that's interesting!

Also probably not really crazy considering my other interest I'm trying to get into is cardisty/shuffling as a fidget/hobby lol.

Cardistry looks awesome, but no way am I coordinated enough for that.

As for lore, I have always been obsessed with Fallout, but via ADHD. Never have I loved and hated a franchise more than that, haha

I've messed around a bit with begleri and butterfly knives and started doing it deliberately because I'm not that coordinated and wanted to try to improve. I have shit motor skills in general lol. Cardistry is just my next step in "maybe I can do that".

I almost picked up Fallout 3 and New Vegas over the summer sale and maybe even talked with you about them but ultimately chose not to because modding those games on Linux is broke af. I think I may eventually go ahead and grab them and go without mods though. I'm interested in the lore but don't know anything about it. I think apocalyptic lore/world building in general is fascinating.

We did talk, I remember that! Modding on Linux is in a better state last I ventured, I've done it a few times.

Mad Max's lore is kind of weird because Miller retconned some of it by referencing modern current era tech and politicians in Fury Road which sort of broke the movies into a soft reboot of sorts, but I'm fan-brained and am sticking to the tall tale/unreliable narrative angle that shoehorns the new movies into the older ones. The main historical lore of oil crisis > resource crisis > law and order breaking down still works. Just gotta squint at some of the stuff like Immortan Joe using more modern circuitry for his breathing machine and such or that Tom Hardy's version of Mad Max is supposed to be in his 70s or early 80s. The age thing can also be marked up to tall tale/unreliable narrative too. Basically the History Men might be retelling the tale and they don't have all their info correct. /ramble

Yeah that's the angle I've adopted too. It makes it all fit together easier without having to finagle too much.
