    This reminds me how "military-grade" tends to indicate the lowest possible quality

      iirc military grade was more meant for being able to be used in the extreme ends of temperatures (e. g blazing desert and frozen tundra) which many typical devices would fail to work in. it later devolved into a marketing term that doesnt really mean anything.

        With regards to electronic components, it had to do with tight tolerances (at one time), EMP shielding, and wide temperature operating range.

        Military grade boots just means it’ll permanently fuck up your feet in four years tho
